Frequently Asked Questions: EV Charging Part
FAQ
-
Q: What is Plug-and-Play and Plug and Charge for EV charger?
A: First, a quick clarification: the term “Play-and-Charge” is not an industry standard. In most technical contexts, it refers to Plug and Charge (ISO 15118). Below we explain both “Plug-and-Play” (for installation ease) and “Plug and Charge” (for charging ease).
1. Plug-and-Play – for installers / site owners
This refers to EV chargers (or entire charging stations) that are designed for easy deployment. A Plug-and-Play charger minimizes complex on‑site electrical work. For example, some DC fast chargers integrate battery storage and a grid‑friendly interface, allowing the unit to be placed without costly grid upgrades. The goal: reduce installation time and infrastructure costs – literally “plug the unit in and start operating.”2. Plug and Charge (PnC) – for EV drivers
Defined by ISO 15118, Plug and Charge enables seamless authentication and payment. When an EV driver inserts the charging cable, the vehicle and charger automatically exchange a digital certificate (the car’s unique “ID”). The charging session starts instantly, and billing is handled automatically without any card, app, or manual action. The goal: remove all friction from the charging experience – just plug, and charging + payment happen by themselves. -
Q: What is RFID (Swipe Card) function for EV charger?
A: Start or stop charging by swiping an authorized card on the charger. This helps manage user access and usage.
-
Q: What is OCPP?
A: OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol).
An international communication standard that allows the charger to connect with backend platforms for remote monitoring, billing, and management. -
Q: Which operation management platforms are your charging stations compatible with?
A: Our charging stations have been sold in over 30 countries worldwide, covering more than 100 operators. Among these operators, some use globally renowned platforms such as OCPP and AMPECO, while others use operation management platforms developed by the customers themselves. Regardless of the platform, after testing by our professional technicians, they can be perfectly adapted for normal charging management. Meanwhile, to ensure compatibility with the customer's platform, before reaching the final purchase agreement, we will first use the original charging stations to conduct online testing with the customer's management platform in advance, providing a guarantee for the subsequent implementation of various functions.
